Pre-School

St. John Lutheran Pre-School (K3 & K4)

Early Childhood Program

The St. John preschool program includes pre-K3 and pre-K4 and is designed with two goals in mind:

  • to show children God’s love for them through Bible stories, songs, games, and chapel experiences

  • to prepare children academically, physically, and emotionally for the elementary school experience

Pre-Kindergarten 3

The half and full day K-3 program is available on a five day a week schedule and focuses on social and emotional adjustments to the group situation.  Children are exposed to color, shape, and number recognition, as well as beginning reading readiness skills. These include writing names, letter recognition, listening to stories, and following directions.  The full day afternoon program will include puppetry, outdoor play, sharing, weekly science or social studies units.  Centers are some of the vehicles used to teach gross and fine motor skills, language, basic number concepts, listening, and thinking skills.  Students also participate in art, music, library time, and weekly chapel services.

Pre-Kindergarten 4

The half and full day K-4 program focuses daily on listening, following directions, reasoning skills, reading readiness, number concepts, and motor skills.  Academic skills are introduced in the areas of language arts, math, social studies, science, and religion.  Students also participate in art, music, library time, and weekly chapel services.  Field trips and special activities are included within the well rounded curriculum.  Our Pre-K program prepares students for an easy transition to Kindergarten.
