Class of 2007

Chris Decker

Have 13 years of service at the Marion County Sheriff’s Office. I currently serve as the Forensic Laboratory Supervisor, overseeing operations within the DNA, latent print, and firearms laboratories.

I married my wife, Samantha, in 2019 and we are blessed with two wonderful children, with a third expected in October.

Transferring to St. John Lutheran during my high school years was a pivotal moment in my life. It wasn’t until my junior year, upon enrolling at St. John, that I fully recognized how unprepared I was for college. The curriculum, smaller class sizes, and, most importantly, the faculty helped me grow into a much better student. I would eventually graduate from Concordia University Chicago in 2011 with a degree in biology, providing the foundation for my career in forensic science.

Class of 1997

Jenny Ochoa

Jenny Ochoa (Duncan) is a 1997 graduate of St. John. She received her bachelors degree in Latin American Studies/Spanish from Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama. After college, she moved to Costa Rica to teach English as a second language, and she eventually met and married her husband, Juan there. They moved back to Ocala in 2003 and she joined her family’s business in the foodservice equipment industry. They have two wonderful daughters, Sophia and Ruby, both of them Saints as well. “This school has been one of the biggest blessings of my life. Then as a student and now as a parent. When it came time to choose a school for our daughters, it was a no-brainer. It has always felt like home. They have both thrived academically, socially, and spiritually. This is such a special place and it will always have my heart.

Class of 2005

Tyler Strickland

I graduated from St. John in 2005 and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in General Biology from the University of Central Florida. I’m currently the Vice President of Healthy You, a company specializing in physical therapy, chiropractic, and massage therapy products. I met my wife, Alisa, while we were both students at UCF. We have two amazing daughters, and I’m proud to say our oldest, Ella, will soon be a third-generation St. John Saint.

Class of 2008

Patrick McLaughlin

Looking back on my time at St. John, I can honestly say it was one of the most memorable and meaningful chapters of my life. The friendships I made, the teachers who shaped me, and the sense of community we shared left a lasting impact and quite a few stories that are better told in person.

Since graduating in 2008, I earned my bachelor’s degree in business management and started Central Florida Transport in 2013. We are a local trucking company servicing the state of Florida. Outside of work, life is full and exciting. I have been married to my amazing wife Jamie for 6 years. We are the proud parents of two beautiful little girls. Paisley is 5 years old and will be attending St. John in the fall, and Maddie who is just 5 months old.

It’s hard to believe how much time has passed, but I’m grateful every day for the foundation St. John gave me both academically and personally.

Class of 2011

Katie Ahearn

After graduating from St. John in 2011, I attended the University of South Florida and  received my Bachelor’s in Elementary Education in three years because of the dual enrollment  opportunities I got to take advantage of during my high school career at St. John. I was offered  several teaching positions in Hillsborough County and began my teaching career in Tampa.  Due to the State Testing Scores that the students I had the privilege of teaching were  obtaining, Hillsborough County Schools offered me an elite, paid for Masters Program in  Educational Leadership to learn how to become a change making administrator. I held many  roles in schools that were deemed “failing” letter grades by the state in order to help transform  the schools into successful and thriving school for children who are considered at risk youth  and impoverished. This is where I continued my passion for supporting and serving in schools  that work with communities and children who do not have the same opportunities or resources  that all children deserve to have in order to exceed any expectations. My husband and I met at  the University of South Florida and we followed his career from Hillsborough County to St.  Lucie County where I continued serving and supporting high needs schools in the classroom  as a teacher and as an instructional and behavioral coach. This is where I became Teacher of  the Year and a Conscious Discipline Certified Instructor.
My husband, Nick and I welcomed our first child, Annsley, and decided to move back to  my home town in order to be near family as we grew ours. This move allowed my husband to  begin working in our family business, Revis Towing, and then our second child, Rhett was born.  In Marion County Public Schools, I have had the opportunity to serve as Assistant Principal  and continue working in transformational schools. I have supported four schools in my career,  that had a letter grade of a “D” or “F” when I began, and I PROUDLY get to say the year I  began supporting the school, is the year we were able to successfully turn all four schools into  schools that are academically and behaviorally successful. We have recently welcomed our  third baby, Magnolia, as she is the perfect bundle of joy to finalize our family. I currently am  doing consulting and training for Conscious Discipline across the nation and in other parts of  the world to teach and coach teachers, administrators, parents, and any adult how to become  the best version of themselves in order to model for the kids in our care how to create safety,  connection, and problem solving citizens in an attuned and attached way.
